The Cleveland Area is an unincorporated part of Johnston County, centrally located off Interstate 40 and NC Highway 42.  There are five zip codes servicing the area.  It is considered a "bedroom community" to Raleigh North Carolina, and on the border to Wake County.Johnston County NC Real Estate

A Brief History of Cleveland Township Johnston County, North Carolina

Cleveland Township is an area located in Western Johnston County, North Carolina bounded roughly by the Wake County boundary on the west, Middle Creek on the South, Dickinson Road on the East and White Oak Creek to Swift Creek on the North.  These boundaries contain approximately 39.5 square miles, or 25,280 acres, in area.  The creation of Cleveland Township was authorized by the NC General Assembly in 1887, and on June 6th of that same year, the Johnston County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution setting the township boundaries.  Until approximately 20 years ago, Cleveland Township was sparsely populated.
